Students must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver’s license.

Our ELDT (Entry-Level Driver Training) is self-paced and completed online. Behind-the-Wheel training takes place the 2nd and 4th weekends of the month. (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).

 Under the new ELDT requirements, all CLP holders must complete three training components before taking the CDL Skills Exam:

• Theory: Online classroom instruction
• Range: Backing and maneuvering practice
• Road: On-the-road driving practice

Once you complete the program, our staff will submit your training records to the FMCSA Training Provider Registry (TPR) and assist you with scheduling your state CDL Skills Exam.

 You’ll train using a dually pickup truck (GMC 3500) paired with a 40' gooseneck trailer—the standard setup used in the hotshot trucking industry.

Students must obtain their CDL permit, have a valid DOT medical card, and complete their ELDT online training prior to scheduling Behind-the-Wheel training.

A criminal record will not prevent you from completing training at Texas Hotshot Driving School. However, hiring requirements vary by employer or contracting company.

We offer guidance on industry opportunities and business startup support, but job placement may vary based on each student’s career goals.

Once you complete the entire course and receive a score above 80% and complete BTW training, our staff will then submit your results to the FMCSA Database. 

Once your Certificate of Completion appears on the FMCSA Registry you may download it onto your device.

Once entered into the FMCSA Database, the DMV will be able to look up results directly from the registry. 

If any of the information you submitted is incorrect and does not match your license they will not be able to find it. It has to match perfectly. 

Once all three portions of your training (Theory, Road, and Range) are complete you can schedule your final state exam at the DMV.
